Billy Kaupert Jr., age 74 of La Vernia, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2019. A memorial service celebrating Billy's life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Billy was born August 8, 1945 in San Antonio, Tx to William and Marie Kaupert. He married his high school sweetheart and love, Deborah Williams on June 8, 1968. He became a father in 1971 to his daughter, Melissa Doege, and in 1973 to his son, William "Bubba" Kaupert III. Billy is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife Deborah Williams Kaupert; daughter, Melissa Doege; son, William "Bubba" Kaupert III and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Bryan Kaupert, Alena Doege, Matthew Weichold, and Caden Doege; sister, Donna Poppe and husband Jack; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Billy was a dedicated husband and father. He especially loved his role as Papa. His grandchildren knew nothing but adventure when they were with him- which was often. Another love he had was his sweets! For many years, Billy worked as a lineman for City Public Service, was a shop foreman for General Neon Sign Company, and a self-employed contract welder. Billy loved to hunt and fish with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also loved being on his tractor and bailing hay with his son. His true passion was welding, building, and fixing things. His projects were always well thought out.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
