Obituary

William Van (Bill) McElveen was born on August 15, 1942, in Bay City, Texas, to the late Herbert Oscar McElveen and Myrtle Wilson McElveen. He departed his Earthly Life on Thursday morning, May 18, 2017, at Remarkable Nursing Home in Seguin, Texas.
Bill grew up in West Columbia, Texas, and later moved with his parents to Victoria, Texas. He graduated from Victoria High School in 1962, attended the University of Houston, and later served in the U.S. Air Force. Bill resided in Fort Worth for many years where he had established "Color by Bill". He had numerous clients who reveled in his ability to create unique landscaping. During past years, Bill lived a quiet life in Seguin. He enjoyed visiting and dining with friends and caring for his beloved dog, "Lola."
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a long-time companion, Homer "Woody" Woodruff; an older brother, Herb McElveen; a nephew, Michael McElveen; his grandparents, Martin and Pearl Littlefield Wilson, and Jackson and Hattie Evans McElveen; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bill is survived by an uncle, Donald Wilson of Brazoria; his brothers, Kenneth McElveen of Victoria, Ronald McElveen of Karnes City; and sister-in-laws, Fran McElveen of Lakeway, Paulette McElveen of Ganado, and Rose McElveen of Karnes City. He is also survived by nieces Kathy McElveen Field of Austin, Lori McElveen Mitchell of Colorado, Marcy McElveen Reed of Terlingua, Rhonda McElveen of San Antonio, Crystal McElveen of Karnes City; and a nephew, Kyle McElveen, of Ganado. Great nieces, great nephews, and numerous cousins also survive.
Bill was grateful for the friendship of his special friends in Seguin, Texas. Following Bill's wishes of cremation, final internment services will be held at the Ganado City Cemetery in Ganado, Texas, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. For those who wish, Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 226 S.
