Obituary

William Michael "Bill" Rotkosky, age 77 of Seguin, Texas passed away on June 20, 2023 at 11:11 A.M.  Bill was born on February 25, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas to Vera Elaine (Connell) and William Anthony Rotkosky.

Bill will be remembered for proudly serving his country for 6 years in the United States Navy as a UDT Diver on Seal Team 2 during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after working for 35 years as a cable repair technician.  Bill and his wife Kay were members of the Country Church in Marion and their faith was everything to them.  In his retirement, he enjoyed hunting and catching up on what was going on in the world, especially the stock market. But being the adventurous man, he was; in 2009 he became a Park Ranger at Landa Park. This adventure was cut short when Bill suffered a catastrophic fall while on duty. The fall broke his C1-C4 vertebrae, injured his spine, and caused 3 fractures of the Jefferson Ring, rendering him an incomplete quadriplegic. But being the Navy Seal, he was he adapted to and overcame every prognosis a doctor gave; and with many therapies and perseverance, he was able to walk again. His most precious times, though, were always spent with his wife Kay. The two met in 1964 at Highlands High School and it was love at first sight. Though they weren't married until 24 years later, no matter what they always found their way back to each other in the end.

"Larger than life. So tough, yet tender. Lighthearted, hilarious, quick-witted, strong-willed, hard-headed, ornery, boyish, loving, modest, overly generous, easy-going, able to hide his true feelings, and a pretty cool dude. That's how anybody who knew Bill would describe him."

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Vera Elaine (Connell) and William Anthony Rotkosky, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna and R. D. Henderson, and his brother-in-law, Mark Clark.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 40 years, Kay Henderson Rotkoksy; son, Tony Henderson; granddaughters, Stephanie Simon and husband Steve, Maddison Henderson, and Lauren Cutler and husband, Chase; great-grandchildren, Weston Bloxham and Whitley Simon; sisters, Kathryn Clark and Janice Gimbel and husband, John; several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and many friends.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at Pavilion # 4 with Pastor Butch Ikels officiating and military honors.
