Obituary

William Fredrick "Big Rick" Wallace, age 73 of Seguin, passed away on September 22, 2016 after an accident at the family ranch. An open house will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wallace Family Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Seguin with Rev. Jeremy Roy officiating. A reception will follow at the Wallace Family Home. Private interment will be held at a later date at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Rick was born on May 3, 1943 in Uvalde Texas to J. C. and Ethel (Graves) Wallace. His parents and two infant daughters preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Wallace; daughter, Traci Brodbeck and husband Neal; son, Boyd Wallace and wife Kim; granddaughters, Morgan Burden and husband Nick, and Glenn Brodbeck; grandsons, Mickey, Carter and Racer Wallace; brother, Lee Graves Wallace and wife Shelly; brother-in-law, Ron Boyd and wife Sylvia; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends, especially the David Lutz Family.

Rick, affectionately known as "Big Rick", grew up in Houston spending many summers in the Uvalde area with his aunts and uncles. He met the love of his life, Linda, at a dance in Garner State Park in 1961 – a park built by his father during the CCC Boys era. Big Rick loved the outdoors, the Frio River, hunting with his family, his Longhorns, and most fond of working on his ranch while admiring his cows and horses. His grandchildren were the light of his life, always setting a Godly example for them as well as others to follow. Big Rick will be remembered for his prayers at family meals, always giving thanks for family, friends, those that had served or currently serving our military, our local, state, and national leaders, and ending with a special request for 3 inches of rain. His strong belief of family values, generous heart, and affection for overalls will be missed.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hammon, Bob Covington, Michael Stevens, Bob Siddons and David Lutz. Memorial contributions may be made to Citizens United for Lake Placid (CULP), 2625 Blumberg Park Road, Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to the charity of one's choice.
