Obituary

William "Mr. Herman" Whinery passed away October 5, 2014. He was born on June 7, 1933, to Benton and Lona Whinery in Martinez, New Mexico.
After school, he joined the navy during the Korean conflict. He served on the Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet, where he enjoyed traveling around the world.
Later though, what brought him the greatest happiness was his dedication and activity as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and as such touched the lives of so many people. He was a home builder by trade and one of his proudest accomplishments was the volunteer work he participated in, building Kingdom Halls locally and internationally. He also assisted in overseeing relief work and helping to rebuild homes damaged in natural disasters.
He had the skills Wal-Mart needed to take care of the maintenance and upkeep of the Seguin store, so he was hired in 1995. He was grateful to the Store Managers for allowing him to continue working at Wal-Mart even after his stroke in 2003.
He loved to travel, being outdoors, and spending time with family which made for many fond memories.
He never met a stranger and will be remembered by his sparkling eyes and friendly nature. To his kids, he will be remembered as a good dad and a great father.
Survivors include his loving wife Elsie, of almost 60 years, his brothers Carl, Sherman, and Frank; his children Charles (Joyce); William (Michelle); Lewis (Lisa) and Julie Capps (Tim); his grandchildren Kristen Moczygemba (Brendan), Christy Capps, Shane and Jared Whinery; his great-grandchildren Brynleigh Moczygemba, Lonnie Mann, and Ryleigh Moczygemba as well as many cherished friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Monday, Oct. 13, at the Seguin-Guadalupe County Coliseum, 950 S. Austin St., Seguin, Texas.
