Zula Lee Moltz Irby, age 77 of Austin, formerly of Uvalde and Marion, passed away on October 18, 2018. Zula was born in Marion on December 24, 1940 to Lee and Adela (Zunker) Moltz. She was a retired schoolteacher and spent decades teaching 1st graders to read. In her later years, former students would greet her in HEB with a warm 'Hello, Mrs. Irby'. She is preceded in death by her husband - and the love of her life - Clinton Irby. Zula and Clint enjoyed 50 years together, raised two children and loved traveling - especially in retirement. They traveled through all 48 lower states and loved Colorado, Bruce Canyon, Arches National Park and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Zula is also preceded is death by her parents and her sisters, Lillian Reinhard Kauffman, Velma Reinhard Schwenn and her brothers Herman Moltz and Edward Moltz. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Irby of Austin; son, Kyle Irby of Pflugerville; grandchildren Colby Moore, Joshua Irby, Caleb Moore and Grace Irby; sisters, Ethel Wahl and Myrtle Staats; sisters-in-law, Corrine Irby and Mary Irby; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 9 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Roger Reinhard officiating.
